The Ultimate Anti-Aging Skincare Plan

Start with one of the following anti-aging habits and do it daily until it becomes natural. Creating good habits takes 3-4 weeks, so choose one healthy habit to focus on until it becomes automatic for you. This is important for your success, so don’t skip this.

  • Exfoliate: Twice a week, use a gentle scrub to remove dead skin cells from the top layer of your skin. During the week, use a toner that contains fruit acids to gently exfoliate and smooth skin. We think this is just as important as using a primer to smooth skin before applying foundation.
  • Eat more omega-3 fatty acids: Your body doesn’t make these so you need to eat them for their anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties. Great sources are halibut, salmon, tuna, & trout. Supplement with a high-quality fish or krill oil if you don’t eat fish at least 3 times per week.
  • Limit sun exposure: Seek out shade to avoid photoaging and cover up with a stylish hat. Some sun exposure on the body is alright, but use a mineral sunscreen on your face and chest daily. These are the areas that give away your age.
  • Wash away impurities twice a day: How you wash your face can affect the appearance of your skin. For best results, use a facial cleanser that contains activated charcoal to draw out impurities from the skin. Avoid scrubbing the skin with a washcloth or a towel, as this will pull and stretch the skin. There are better ways to exfoliate that don’t pull on the skin.
  • Use products that contain tea extracts: Tea contains compounds with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, both of which help fight aging. This night cream contains tea extracts.
  • Eat superfoods daily: Your diet is super important! Superfoods are classified as such because they contain antioxidants that help neutralize free radicals. Free radicals cause aging and are found in the environment and produced by your body’s own processes. Look for new ways to incorporate spinach, kale, almonds, lemon, berries, and sea vegetables into your diet.
  • Avoid added sugars: Processed sugars increase inflammation, spike hormones, and weaken the collagen in your skin.
  • Prioritize your sleep: Getting your beauty sleep can be challenging but a regular sleep schedule of 7-9 hours a night is one of the best things you can do for your skin and overall health. The first things you’ll notice are a more glowing complexion and brighter, less puffy eyes! In the long-term, you’ll have noticeably fewer fine lines and wrinkles because your skin will have the opportunity to produce more collagen while you sleep. Collagen is what your skin produces to repair and renew your skin while you sleep. This leaves your skin looking more plump and radiant.
  • Increase your activity level: Get your heart rate up for at least 20 minutes every other day. We love yoga for strength and flexibility and its stress-reducing effects. We think it is one of the best ways to fight aging throughout the body.
  • Drink water throughout the day: Keep a bottle of water with you at all times. Your skin’s hydration levels are determined by both internal factors and your external environment.
  • Use a rich moisturizer at night: Keeping skin hydrated “from the outside” is important for minimizing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Look for a moisturizer made with organic ingredients and no endocrine-disrupting preservatives. Parabens are used as preservatives in cosmetics and may be associated with breast cancer.
  • Use antioxidants to neutralize free radicals: unstable oxygen molecules that break down skin cells and cause wrinkles. We recommend using a night cream with essential oils to fight free-radical damage at the cellular level.
  • Use a prescription-strength Retinol in the winter: Retinoids are also anti-oxidants, and they are available as a prescription or as non-prescription wrinkle cream.  The amount of retinoid in non-prescription creams varies, and it will likely be less than a prescription product. This is why we recommend talking to your dermatologist about prescription retinol, which helps increase the skin’s rate of cellular turnover.
  • Hydroxy acids: Alpha hydroxy acids, beta hydroxy acids, and poly hydroxy acids are exfoliants. These substances help to remove the upper layer of old, dead skin and stimulate the growth of smooth, evenly pigmented new skin cells. Hydroxy acids are found in a variety of natural sources, like the fruit acids used in this Clarifying Toner.
