How Organic Radiance Does Skincare Product Development
Product development is simply coming up with innovative ideas to solve customers’ problems, testing formulas to meet their needs, and developing packaging for new products.
Organic Radiance Skincare creates skincare products that provide relief from redness and restore balance through plant-derived ingredients. As the beauty industry continues to evolve, so does ORS. We’re thrilled to announce that for the past two years, we’ve been searching for powerful yet gentle ingredients that have an anti-aging effect on the skin. We’ve been formulating the best skincare for aging skin and are now excited to launch our brand-new Ageless Beauty line!
The Ageless Beauty line consists of AHA Cleanser, Vitamin C Toner, the Ultimate Cocktail Serum, and Herbe Sois Calming Moisturizer. This line of products is curated for age-conscious consumers, while the core products are for those who want to reduce inflammation.
This new line has been a labor of love! It’s our way of saying we hear you, and we’re here for you! The line is formulated with the finest botanical ingredients with your skin’s needs in mind. Because of this, ORS has carefully taken the time to produce products that exceed customers’ expectations.
How I Discovered Skincare Product Development
When it comes to the skincare product development process at ORS, there’s a lot to consider! Researching, ingredient selection, sustainability, formulation, packaging, labeling, and meeting the needs of customers with sensitive skin.
As someone who started using skincare products during my early teenage years, I grew an interest in beauty at an early age. When it came to deciding what I wanted to do for the rest of my life, I looked at things I was passionate about. I thought about how I could incorporate something I am passionate about and make a career out of it. This is when I came across the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles California during my junior year of high school.
When I first discovered this college, I thought the school only offered fashion. However, after doing further research I discovered there were so many opportunities to work in different industries that I didn’t realize could be a career. One of these was beauty.
Being a girl from the East Coast, I made the move to the West Coast to pursue a college degree that specializes in Beauty Marketing and Product Development. After taking product development classes, I learned the process of product development in the beauty industry and fell in love. I’m currently working as a Product Development Intern at Organic Radiance Skincare (ORS).

Organic Radiance Skincare likes to utilize customer feedback when considering new products to come out with and making adjustments to current products. Candice Betty, founder of ORS says “One of the most common issues people report is the challenge of finding anti-aging skincare products that work.” We’ve taken this into consideration when creating the new Ageless Beauty line.
ORS takes the time to use organic preservation methods and expiration estimates to make sure your products are fresh. This can be seen with the “6M” product expiration symbol which means the product will remain fresh after 6 months of opening the product.
Additionally, “Listening to customer feedback is how we choose what products to develop next at ORS. Our customers’ skincare concerns are what guide our development. We’re grateful for the many surveys and reviews that have shaped our journey as a skincare company.” says Candice.
Innovation and Ingredient Selection
At ORS we created the Ageless Beauty line with age-conscious consumers who want to improve the appearance of their skin. The formulation of the new line includes benefits that our customers said that they’re looking for. These benefits include smoothing fine lines, brightening darker spots, and evening skin tone.
As a small company, what innovation means to us is leveraging our knowledge about natural ingredients and creating formulas that combine these ingredients in an innovative way. Additionally, we formulate with ethically sourced ingredients that are safe and effective for consumers to use.

During the development of the Ageless Beauty line, we’ve carefully selected botanical ingredients to create the best skincare for mature skin. The new AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) Ageless Beauty Cream Cleanser is a brightening facial cleanser designed for dry, mature, and sensitive skin.
- With a blend of Glycolic, Tartaric, and Malic Acids, it refines and brightens, leaving your skin soft and glowing.
- Organic Fruit Tinctures provide antioxidants and vitamins to protect stressed skin.
- This formula focuses on hydration, thanks to Organic Aloe and Apricot Kernel Oil.
- Organic Cranberry and White Willow Bark Extracts reduce redness and even out skin tone.
- Sunflower Seed Oil cleanses pores and smooths the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
According to Valle-González, glycolic acid is known to reduce acne-related inflammation. Tartaric Acid is known to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Malic Acid is known for hydration.1
The new Vitamin C Ageless Beauty Toner brightens skin with Vitamin C and a powerful blend of herbal extracts. In addition, it soothes and hydrates your skin, and exfoliates with alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) from Bilberry and White Willow Bark. Our toner is rich in antioxidants from organic herbal extracts of Orange, Lemon, and Cranberry to protect your skin.
According to Telang, Vitamin C is an antioxidant that is used in skincare to treat and prevent signs of photoaging. Vitamin C is safe to use on a daily basis along with other antioxidants, alpha hydroxy acids, and sunscreens.2
Alpha Hydroxy Acids can help stimulate skin cell renewal, and improve skin firmness and elasticity while reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Because it can increase skin sensitivity due to sunlight, it is important to use sunscreen.3
Bilberry can improve the hydration of skin, and lighten dark spots while leaving the skin looking brighter and evenly pigmented.4 Orange, Lemon, and Cranberry provide antioxidants that have similar properties that brighten skin, inflammation, and remove dead skin cells. Lastly, White Willow Bark can reduce the appearance of wrinkles, reduce redness, and gently exfoliate the skin while soothing it.5

Packaging Sustainability in Skincare Product Development
As a consumer, I consciously choose to purchase from environmentally conscious brands. I do this when shopping for clothes and my skincare. I look for brands that provide sustainable packaging and ingredients. After learning that the fashion and beauty industries are two of the biggest polluting industries, I prefer to purchase from brands that are doing their part in being more environmentally friendly.
I love that Organic Radiance Skincare puts sustainability at the forefront. When it comes to packaging, ORS purchases end-of-run product containers in smaller quantities. These items are already manufactured and shipped. What that means is these are the greenest options for ORS to purchase for our small batches because we are using packaging that’s already been manufactured and produced carbon emissions.
Founder Candice Betty says “I like to take the approach of minimalist packaging. Instead of using an outer or secondary carton, which is often thrown away, we decided to create a QR code that directs customers to a site with all of the additional information that we couldn’t fit on the product label.”

Our packaging peanuts are compostable since they are made from starch and easily break down in water. Creative and sustainable ways to dispose of our packaging peanuts can include using them with your lawn fertilizer or adding them to your compost pile.
