Here’s mine. I earned my beauty business management degree at FIDM in 2022. Before starting my skincare journey with ORS, I suffered from dryness and flakiness on my skin. When it comes to skincare, it is important to know your skin type as this will help determine which skincare regimen is right for you. Common skin types are normal, dry, oily, combination, and sensitive. Once you determine your skin type you will know which skincare products to include in your skincare routine.
If you know your skin type, you can skip down to it. If you don’t, you may get a better idea by reading through all of them. I’ve included recommendations for my favorite Organic Radiance Skincare (ORS) products for each skin type as well.
For normal skin and combination types, you’ll generally want to follow the same skincare regimen. Normal skin is not dry or oily, and it has an even texture.
Combination skin has both dry and oily areas, with the T-zone producing the most oil. The T-zone is the area across the forehead, down the nose, and to the chin.(2) This type of skin does well with a gel cleanser, a lightweight hydrating serum, and a richer moisturizer at night.
For both of these skin types, your skincare regimen should include the basics. Daily use of a gentle cleanser, a non-irritating AHA or BHA exfoliant, a toner with skin-replenishing ingredients, and a nutrient-rich moisturizer. Dry skin shows fine lines and wrinkles the most because it needs hydration. It can feel tight, itchy, red, raised, or flaky. Your skin needs a balance of oil and water to keep your moisture barrier hydrated and healthy.
Dry skin types would do best using the Lavender Micellar Water for very gentle cleansing, the non-drying Lavender Cream Exfoliator, the pH-balancing non-drying Clarifying Toner, The Ultimate Cocktail Facial Serum, and Herbe Sois Calming Moisturizer.
My skin type is sensitive. I experience redness, rashes, and flakiness due to excess wind and sun or products with harsh ingredients. ORS helps my sensitive skin reduce the irritation in my skin and keeps my moisture barrier healthy. Lastly, there are oily skin types that produce a shiny sebum coating and an increased potential for breakouts. Washing with a gel cleanser twice a day, especially after exercise, is very important for preventing clogged pores and acne. Use a toner to pH balance your skin, normalize sebum production, and remove dead skin cells. Apply the Cocktail Serum in the morning instead of a moisturizer. If you’re experiencing breakouts, a glycolic acid mask like the Pumpkin Mask can help.
