Don’t Make Your Redness Worse With These Rosacea Triggers

Facial Redness

Are you tired of the redness, burning, and flushing on your face? Does blushing keep you from speaking up with friends or at work? As much as one-third of the US population experiences redness on the face. Try using a calming skin care line and avoid these environmental rosacea triggers.

As much as one-third of the US population experiences redness on the face. Rosacea is a skin condition that develops with age. Although people with Celtic backgrounds are most commonly known for having rosacea, any nationality and skin tone can develop it. Try using a calming skin care line and avoid these environmental rosacea triggers.

Knowing your skin and how it reacts to your environment is invaluable in managing your facial redness. Diet and sunlight play a huge role in helping to reduce or flare your redness. Try using a calming skin care line and avoid these environmental rosacea triggers.

Rosacea Triggers

Don’t let these triggers undermine your rosacea treatment. Choose an anti-inflammation diet and try to minimize these things in your environment as much as possible:

  • UV light exposure
  • Alcohol (especially red wine)
  • Caffeine
  • Spicy foods
  • Hot foods (as in overly-warm)
  • Hot drinks (choose iced instead)
  • Excessive stress or anxiety
  • Intense exercise
  • Sudden change in emotion, like feeling embarrassed or bursting out laughing
  • Hot showers or saunas
  • Medications, such as topical steroids, some blood pressure drugs, and some opiate painkillers
  • Some skin care products (read ingredient lists, choose organic products and calming formulas)

Things that make your face flush will make your rosacea worse.  Everyone is different in the way their body reacts to the things in this list, so keep a journal to see what triggers your redness to persist.

Remember to wear sunscreen every day to protect your skin from redness and photo-aging. Leave a comment below with your main triggers. We’re here to encourage discussion and support one another.
